Survived The CRIM!
I survived the 10 mile CRIM race on Saturday morning in Flint. Even though I did not break any records, I finished in 1 hour 29 minutes. The race kicked off with warm temperatures at 8:00 am and quickly increased to hot and muggy conditions by the 5th mile. I realize I will now need to increase my training distance for the Brooksie Way 1/2 marathon on October 5. I look forward to the cooler temperatures for this race! Wayne Thibodeau

Back From Vacation
I'm back from a glorious 2 week vacation. Are you ready to put your training in to high gear? We only have 7 weeks left before the 5K. We should be walking 30-40 minutes at least 3 times a week. I'll admit I wasn't as disciplined as I had hoped on vacation and I may have indulged in a few too many forbidden treats but I'm ready to kick butt and get in shape. Gone are the chocolates and sunset glasses of wine. Whole foods and pure water will be the only things I put in this trusty body of mine.

Vacation
I'm on vacation this week and next so I won't be sending a newsletter until I get back. I am walking every day and I hope you are doing the same. October is not too far away.

Four, Tens
I was wondering if anyone else is working the four, ten hour days. I would love to start walking with co-workers but I work until 6pm. Anyone interested in walking at 6:10 for thirty minutes or so? I have been walking by myself in my neighborhood, about 2 miles a day or about 40 minutes, but I am willing to compromise to have a walking buddy!

Last Wednesday it was just too hot to walk after 5:00pm. I did walk on Monday, albeit alone. I sure got a lot of thinking done in that 30 minute walk. I realize once again, how beautiful the Oakland University campus is and how lucky I am to have the opportunity to enjoy it. Sitting at a desk all day it's easy to forget what's right out the door.I will be walking again today after work if you care to join me. I'll be outside the OC at about 5:10. It's a beautiful day out there!!

After work walk
Yesterday was our first group walk, although it was a small group it was very enjoyable. We didn't break any speed records but we did keep moving for 30 minutes. It felt good to know that we took 30 minutes out of our day to do something for ourselves to improve our mind and body. I hope more people join us next week.
